Fall Programming Begins in September

We’re ready to kick-off a new season of fall programming, and there’s something for everyone!

Wednesdays! begin Sept. 11 with Wednesday Night Meals at 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. It’s always a time for fun, fellowship, and a delicious, inexpensive meal — “the best deal in Salisbury.” With three different services, the Wednesday Night Meal is a great time to meet new people and catch up with old friends.

Kingdom Kids. Last spring, children’s ministry changed their name, curriculum, and time, now beginning each Wednesday at 6 pm. For those who attend the meal, a leader walks the kids over to the ARK, where Kingdom Kids begins at 6 pm. Please note that children do not have to attend the meal to attend Kingdom Kids.

Pastor Laura explains it best: “In January, we launched a new strategy for children’s ministry. It was a natural and smooth transition for our children and volunteers. Building off of the excitement, we are ready for our kids to be back on Wednesday nights and light this church up with their energy and willingness to learn.”

Confirmation and Youth. Confirmation for our 7th and 8th graders is held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 pm. An orientation for parents will be held on Sept. 4. Students begin on Sept. 18.

Youth group for both middle and high school students kicks off Sunday, Sept. 8 at 5:30 pm in the Pit, with youth groups continuing to meet every Sunday from 5:30-7:30 pm. A small group component is being added to our youth program. Pastor Laura says, “When we form our teenagers around small groups of people that they can learn to trust, we can begin to dig deeper into their faith. It allows us to move from head knowledge of scripture and faith to our hearts and a life of discipleship.”

Music Ministry.  The hand bell choirs and Chancel Choir also meet on Wednesday evenings.

Senior Seasons. The fall season of Senior Academy kicks off Sept. 10 with classes beginning Sept 17.

Pastor Laura hopes you’ll get involved: “Fall is a busy time as ministries take off. We hope you’ll find one or two ways to plug into this very special St. John’s community!”

WEDNESDAY NIGHT MEALS

The time for Wednesday Night Meals is here! Make plans to join in fellowship around the dinner table with old friends and new ones. Wednesday Night Meals begins Sept. 11 at 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall, and our upcoming menus are our tried and true favorites. Takeout plates may be available (but not always!) once those in attendance have been served.

What’s On the Menu in September?

Sept. 11 Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable medley, cucumbers and onions, rolls, dessert
Sept. 18 Chicken Tetrazzini, green beans, Caesar salad, Texas toast, dessert
Sept. 25 Lasagna, crunchy romaine salad, Texas toast, dessert

This is known as one of the most affordable meals in town. For a busy evening with the family– you can’t beat it.

The above meal prices are unbelievably good, but you will receive two free meals with the season pass! Your pass allows your name to be checked off the list as you enter and proceed to enjoy a great meal. No hassles of carrying cash. Price includes all 23 meals offered for the 2019-2020 season.
