Kingdom Kids

(Birth - 5th Grade)

Kingdom Kids is our children’s ministry at St. John’s. Kingdom Kids is relational, formative, and fun!

kingdom-kids

Our goal is to create a greater impact in the lives and faith journeys of our children by intentionally reiterating lessons learned at home in church and vice versa.

We offer Nursery, Sunday School, Sunday Children’s Worship, and Wednesday Night programming for our Kingdom Kids, weekly. Can’t wait to see the Kingdom Kids there!

Stacey Shafer, Children’s Minister would love to answer any questions you have.

First Look is for our Birth to 4 year olds. We want our youngest Kingdom Kids to take a First Look at who God is and understand these three basic truths: God made me, God loves me, and Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Parents, look for “First Look” to identify materials specific to this age group.

All parents with children, birth to school age, are encouraged to download the Parent Cue App. In addition to following along with the church curriculum, this app is designed to help every parent do something each week to help move their child toward a deeper faith and a better future.

March

WHO CAN YOU FOLLOW? I CAN FOLLOW JESUS.

This month in First Look, birth to 4 years old, we will answer the question: Who can you follow? I can follow Jesus.

Please note: Wednesday night programming ends April 1.

Nursery

Nursery is available during all three worship services. We strive to keep our nursery clean, safe, and Christ-centered. Childcare is provided by paid attendants. Nursery for 8:30 and 9:27 am Worship is located in the lower level of the Faith Center. Nursery for 11 am Worship is on the lower level of the Sanctuary building.

Sunday Morning

Sunday School is during our 9:27 am Worship. Children are dismissed during the sermon. Parents should pick up their children from the ARK at 10:40 am.

Children’s Worship is offered during 11 am Worship, September-May. Children, ages 3 to 5, are invited forward during the sermon and are led to special children’s choir room for a lesson and activity. They return to their families during the sermon hymn.

Worship Bags are available for our youngest Kingdom Kids who choose to stay in the sanctuary during 11 am Worship. They are located in a red wagon by our ushers.

Wednesdays! (3+4 year olds)

Our high-energy, VBS-style midweek program runs from 6-6:45 pm in the ARK, in the lower level of the Faith Center. Volunteers will lead our Kingdom Kids who attend Wednesday Night Meals over after dinner (5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall). Parents can drop all others off at 6 pm in the ARK.

Curriculum_NDS_Logos_252-1

252 Kids is for our kids from Kindergarten to 5th Grade. What does 252 represent? It’s not our street address or the number of questions a 2nd-grader can ask in 20 minutes. Instead, everything we teach in 252 Kids is based on one of the three basic, but powerful, truths modeled by Jesus in Luke 2:52. I need to make the wise choice, I can trust God no matter what, and I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

All parents with children, birth to school age, are encouraged to download the Parent Cue App. In addition to following along with the church curriculum, this app is designed to help every parent do something each week to help move their child toward a deeper faith and a better future.

March

FORGIVENESS IS UP TO YOU.

In March, our 252 Kids, K-5th graders, will learn that God can help us choose forgiveness: deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn’t have to pay. With His help, you can “do it yourself”—because forgiveness is up to you.

Please note: Wednesday night programming ends April 1.

KINGDOM KIDS

EPIC (3rd-5th Grade)

EPIC (Energetic Peeps in Christ) is still around, too. This is our junior youth group. Keep your eyes open for quarterly meetings.

Youth Quake

EPIC will be taking a day trip to Mt. Pisgah, Hickory for Youth Quake, Saturday, Oct. 19. Youth Quake is sponsored by the NC Synod. We will leave St. John’s at 8:30 am and return around 5 pm. Cost of the tripis $20 and includes a t-shirt, pizza lunch, crafts, music and programming.

KINGDOM KIDS

Milestones

Milestones are moments in your child’s faith journey for them to explore a particular part of our faith, from prayer to worship to communion. Every milestone includes hands-on teaching, a parent component, and a tool/gift that will help the child carry that faith milestone into their daily life.

There are no upcoming events at this time.

KINGDOM KIDS

Camps

St. John’s offers summer camps for all kingdom kids.

Hands and Feet Camp

Hands and Feet Camp is a day camp for our rising 3rd to 5th grade kingdom kids. Each year, we partner with local organizations in our own neighborhood to serve those around us. Your kids will get to know our high school youth, who help lead this camp.

Music and Arts Camp

Music and Arts Camp is a free camp open to rising kindergarten through fifth graders in the community. Children are engaged in choir, movement, arts and crafts, playing instruments, and games. This camp is in collaboration with St. Luke’s Epicopal, First Presbyterial, First Baptist, and Sacred Heart Catholic.

Vacation Bible School

Discover more of God in the midst of the summer heat at Vacation Bible School! This growing ministry reaches out to children in our neighborhoods, schools and community to share the love of Christ with others.
