Welcome to Step by Step, our introduction to the Small Catechism.
In this series, teachers from St. John’s and around the church will guide you through the basics of the Christian faith and life. We’ll be using a guidebook Martin Luther gave us 500 years ago, a field guide of tools, resources, truth, and wisdom on “how to distinguish right from wrong.” There will be six stops on this journey. We’ll begin with the Ten Commandments. After each 2-3 minute video clip, we invite you to pause, reflect, and answer the question posed, a question that will help you connect this tool of faith with your daily life. When you’ve completed your study of the Ten Commandments, proceed to your next step, the Apostles’ Creed, followed by the Lord’s Prayer, the sacraments of baptism and holy communion, and finally, confession.
Our hope is that this study will welcome you into a deeper understanding of the Christian faith. You can enter this journey alone or use it as a jumping off point in a small group setting. If you have questions along the way, please let us know. We’ll be eager to walk alongside you, step by step.
