Community Block Party
By Susan Shinn Turner
On Sept. 7 from 3:30 to 6:30 pm, St. John’s is hosting its second-annual Block Party, and you’re invited!
The event will be held on Jackson Street between the lower entrance of the Faith Center and the Child Development Center. There will be games, music, bounce houses, corn hole, and food. The committee has planned something for all ages.
Best of all, everything is free.
Cheryl Sjoblom is part of the committee planning the event.
“We want the community to come out,” she says. “We also hope folks from all three services and our schools will come. The 9:27 members have planned this event, but we are all St. John’s.”
Kathy Ingold agrees.
“We’re really excited about it,” she says. “It’s a way for the congregation to mingle with the community and have a good time.”
The day’s menu features hot dogs and hamburgers with all the trimmings, and it promises to be a great time of fellowship, says Bradley Chestnut, worship leader. “We want to set this day apart by showing the world that Salisbury is a town that is full of loving people.”
The event is being promoted on social media, and Chestnut has extended a personal invitation to all neighbors close to St. John’s.
We hope to see you there, too!
