Knoxville Day Two..
Katherine:
First thing this morning we watched a video with homeless people read mean tweets about homeless people. The tweets were very degrading to them, and seeing their faces and responses to the tweets was very heartbreaking. It opened my eyes to the fact that social media can be fun, yet very harmful. Next I went to habitat restore and my favorite part there was working with the “Christmas in July” section where we saw some very interesting things and we also organized the items. We also went out for the “Water Wagon” which provides cups of water to the homeless. It was very touching see how impacted and thankful the homeless people were when we handed out the water, it was very moving. I’m very excited to what tomorrow brings.
Quinnlan:
My WOW experience has been great so far! First thing today I went to do Mobile Meals and the people I served were so thankful to receive their food which was very touching. I love seeing the smiles that it brought on their faces. Next, I went to Guy B Love, where I did crafts and had dance parties with the residents. Everyone had a great time and loved catching up with the people I met last year. I’m looking forward to the rest of this week and the many happy times to come.
Sascha:
This morning I went to Serene Manor where I played monopoly with a few different residents. It was a lot of fun and I met some really nice people. They were really fun to talk with and play games with, I really enjoyed it and hope I can go back again. This afternoon I went to the KARM Thrift Store where I sorted clothes and cleaned. It was hard work but was a lot of fun and we got a lot done. I’m really excited for tomorrow and the new places I get to serve at.
Jessica:
I’m very blessed to be a part of WOW and to be doing God’s work. A big part of going to do mission and helping people is a huge blessing to me. Today we went to Wesley house where we helped the 2nd graders read and work on Math. It was a lot of fun. We also went to Karm thrift and I love how we were able to apart of packing clothes that are sent out across the world. It was a great day.
