I have discovered a new kind of tired after my first Holy Week and Easter as a mom of a three month old. Several times during last week, Michael found both Moses and I asleep on the couch trying to catch some sleep whenever we could!
And yet, Holy Week was blessed. My heart thumped again as the cross was set in place on Good Friday and the sound of nails hammered reverberated.
And my heart overflowed with joy on Easter morning as our worship was filled with acclamation of “Christ is Risen. Christ is Risen Indeed.” It truly was good news on Easter morning.
Pastor Rhodes challenged us to remember that Easter isn’t a day — but a lifestyle. Every day we have an opportunity to reflect the Easter story. It is as Easter People that we dig in to God’s garden, the world, and partner with God in the creative work of redemption. It is as we get our hands dirty that we care for our neighbor, reach out to a hurting friend, serve in unexpected places.
So the question is — How are you still living the Easter story? Where are you telling it with your lips and your life? How is God’s great story of redemption being played out in the way you care, speak, work, play and love?
